Ramadan is the most important month in the Hijrah calendar. Apart from being the blessed month that Muslims perform our fasting, it is also the month that Al Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
It was in the Cave of Hira’, that the angel Jibrail (AS) came down to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), with the verses from Surah Al-Alaq. In that verses, Allah commanded to Muhammad to read. Literacy was uncommon during that time. The Prophet could not read nor write, but the revelations were scribed by those who were around him. After the first revelation, Prophet Muhammad received daily revelations of the verses of Al Quran until before his demise. It took 23 years for the Holy Book to be completed and after his death, Abu Bakar As Siddiq (RA) instructed for the verses to be compiled.
The final surah that was revealed to Prophet Muhammad was Surah An Nasr. It was sent down a few months before his death. The surah carries the meaning of ‘Victory’. It consists of four verses that tells us about accepting Islam as a victory to the Believers. This Surah was revealed in Madinah
Words of the Quran gives us comfort in knowing that Allah is Most Merciful. For example, in Surah Al Insyirah, verses 5 and 6, Allah (SWT) said;
“So, surely with hardship comes ease.
Surely with that hardship comes more ease.”
This surah tells us that in the midst of hardship, there will be help. Trust in Allah, as each problem we face, comes with a solution.
Making full use of the blessings of Ramadan, in conjunction of Nuzul Al Quran, Little Ones Eduworld (LOE) celebrates the day with the annual event of Hifzul Quran. The word ‘hifzul’ comes from the root word ‘hifz’ in Arabic, which generally means to memorize. Children as young as 3 years old gather to recite the Surahs from Al Quran, with parents and teachers as their audience. This special occasion includes both inclusive and intensive children. It is a family affair, as parents and teachers come together to help the children maximize their Ramadan activity by guiding them with ‘tadarus Al Quran’ (reading the Quran).
Al Quran is a miracle and a gift to us, as it is a complete guide that explains the roles, functions, and responsibilities of mankind in this world. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said in his last sermon;
“I have left behind two things; you will never go astray as long as you fast onto them; the Quran and Sunnah”
May the guidance and blessings from the Holy Book show us the right path in this world and the Hereafter.
