1. Gradual Fasting for Beginners
- If a child is too young to fast the whole day, encourage half-day or alternate-day fasting to help them adjust.
- Allow them to eat healthy snacks in between if they are not yet required to fast.
2. Hydration is Key
- Encourage drinking plenty of water during Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and Iftar (breaking the fast) to prevent dehydration.
- Limit sugary and caffeinated drinks, as they can cause dehydration.
3. Nutritious Sahur and Iftar Meals
- Serve slow-digesting foods like oats, whole grains, and proteins to keep them full longer.
- Avoid salty and spicy foods, making them thirsty during the day.
- Include fruits and vegetables with high water content, such as cucumbers, melons, and oranges.
4. Keep Them Cool
- Encourage children to stay indoors or in shaded areas during peak heat hours.
- Dress them in loose, light-coloured clothing to stay cool.
- Reduce physical activities to avoid excessive sweating.
5. Encourage Rest and Light Activities
- Ensure they get enough sleep at night to prevent exhaustion.
- Engage them in light activities like reading, storytelling, or quiet games to keep them occupied without getting tired.

6. Teach the Spiritual Importance
- Use this time to teach them about the blessings of Ramadan, such as patience, gratitude, and kindness.
- Encourage prayers, charity, and good deeds even if they are not fasting fully.
7. Be Flexible & Listen to Their Needs
- If they feel weak, dizzy, or unwell, allow them to break their fast immediately.
- Let them gradually build up their fasting stamina each year
