EMPOWERING EVERY CHILD: A NEURODIVERSITY MILESTONE BY LOE & AFFIN BANK

In a powerful step toward promoting empathy, inclusion, and understanding of neurodivergent individuals, Little Ones Eduworld (LOE), in collaboration with Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, hosted the Neurodiversity Awareness Programme at Menara Affin, TRX.

Carrying the theme “Empowering Inclusion Through Responsible Banking,” the half-day event gathered over 180 attendees, including professionals from Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, parents, educators, and students. The initiative aimed to raise awareness and provide practical tools to support neurodivergent children.

The programme opened with a welcoming speech by Puan Jozaimah Johan Ali, Managing Director of Strategy & Operations at Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, followed by Dr. Mohd Fauzi Shaffie, Chairman of Little Ones International Sdn. Bhd. The event was then officiated by Dato’ Paduka Syed Mashafuddin Syed Badarudin, CEO of Affin Islamic Bank Berhad. Each of them emphasized the importance of creating inclusive spaces not just in educational environments, but also in workplaces and society at large.

A key highlight was a series of talks led by Puan Hjh. Wan Roslina Wan Yusoff, founder of LOE and a respected educational psychologist. Her presentations—“Understanding Neurodiversity” and “Emotional and Mental Health Challenges of Parents with Neurodivergent Children”—provided deep insights into the unique strengths and challenges of neurodivergent children, underscoring the value of early intervention and personalized support.

The event also featured a heartfelt talent showcase by LOE students from various campuses—Seksyen 4 Shah Alam, Taman Rowther Gombak, and Setia Permai 1. The children performed sign language routines, expressive movement choreography, and recitations of Surah Al-Fatihah and Al-Mulk. These performances beautifully highlighted their unique abilities to communicate and shine in their own special ways, moving many in the audience to tears.

A panel discussion further enriched the programme, featuring voices from both Affin Islamic Bank Berhad and Little Ones Eduworld. Moderated by En. Mohd Afdlin Ampuani @ Azmei of Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, the panel included Puan Jozaimah Johan Ali and Puan Hjh. Wan Roslina Wan Yusoff. Together, they explored the realities and aspirations surrounding inclusive education, therapy, and community support, followed by an engaging Q&A session.

The day concluded with a meet-and-greet at LOE’s educational booth and interactive sessions that allowed attendees to learn more about early childhood intervention pathways.

As one of the few collaborative initiatives of its kind between a corporate financial institution and an early childhood education provider, the Neurodiversity Awareness Programme not only promoted greater societal understanding but also demonstrated how inclusive values can be embedded across sectors.

This initiative marks the beginning of what both LOE and Affin Islamic Bank envision as a long-term commitment to social responsibility, education, and inclusion.
